Halloween: The Year of the Big Haul

The weather did not agree with the Halloween holiday this year.  It was chilly and wet, a constant slight drizzle keeping everything damp and muddy.  In spite of the weather, the kids were determined to make this a legendary haul for candy.  It was trick or treat or bust.  Only the hearty may hang.  I stayed behind to answer the door and hand out candy.  (Also!  The rain!  I melt in the rain!)

When the kids returned hours later, they were wet, muddy, but triumphant.  They had made it to each and every single house in our neighborhood, a new record for trick or treating.  Their bags were overstuffed with candy, so full that all overflow was stuffed into their fathers' pockets.  The kids dumped all the candy on our family room floor for a fast and furious trading session.

(And the parents snuck a few treats of their own.)
